Laurent Hounsavi

LAURENT HOUNSAVI is a singer whose remarkable voice and edifying style has thrilled fans around the world. He was born in the West African nation of Benin - homeland of Yoruba, Dahomey (Fon) and Goun, among others, whose rhythms were transplanted during slavery in European colonies such as Cuba, Haiti and Brazil .
Hounsavi began singing in age of 7 but his singing career in Cotonou, (Benin Republic), started at the age of 13 with his school’s band. He then won several awards, including the Red Cross Award and the title of Best Young Talent in 1989, at the age of 15 in his country.
The ambitious Hounsavi ventured to Paris in 1990 to continue his studies and, in so doing, regularly performs in the Underground, in bars and cafes to make ends meet, playing guitar and singing Bob Marley's fashionable songs, La Fania, Sam Cook, Aznavour or Georges Brassens... etc.
His hard work finally paid off as he managed to write and compose some songs mainly in the Afro-Latin genre which will definitely be the main sound of his creations. Since his first CD, which has met with great success, he is going to set up his band composed of several musicians while continuing to make solo performances (Guitar / Voice) as well.
In the span of 15 years, he has recorded three CDs including two albums all produced by himself and won again some awards. His successful tours around the world have only helped to increase his notoriety. His songs are regularly broadcasted on radio and have been marketed in more than 150 countries throughout Europe, South America, the United States, Africa and Asia.
In just a few years, Laurent Hounsavi (whose singing style recalls that of his countryman and salsa giant, Gnonnas Pedro, Africando), has become a well-known name and one of the most sought-after salsa singers in Africa and in the world!
He was awarded multiple times in 2015 and 2016 in Africa and in his homeland.
Within 10 years, he has toured more than 15 times in South East Asia: Hong Kong (10 times), Thailand (8 times), Shanghai (5 times), Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, India (2 times), Indonesia, Vietnam (2 times), Taiwan (2 times)... Etc. And many tours and performances will be realized in Africa and Europe and some events in the USA.
He is certainly on the rise and is truly a rising star!
